ReelQuick — Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 16, 2025

We built ReelQuick to help you review and tidy your camera roll quickly, with privacy as the default. This policy explains what we (and your device) do with data when you use ReelQuick and our website (together, the Services).

Quick summary (the TL;DR)

  • Your photos and videos never leave your device for processing. ReelQuick uses on-device frameworks (e.g., PhotoKit, Core ML) to analyze and sort; we don’t upload your media to our servers.
  • No ads. No cross-app tracking. We don’t sell or “share” your data for targeted advertising and we do not request App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permission.
  • Minimal data collection. We only collect what’s necessary to operate the app, provide support, and improve reliability (e.g., crash diagnostics you opt into via Apple).
  • You stay in control. Nothing is permanently deleted without your action. Undo is available for recent actions, and iOS Photos provides Recently Deleted recovery.
  • Transparency. This document details what we collect, why, and your choices.

1) Who we are & how to contact us

Data Controller: ReelQuick (insert your legal entity name if different) Email: support@reelquick.app

If you have questions or want to exercise your privacy rights, email us. If you live in the UK/EEA, you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority. We’d appreciate the chance to address your concerns first.

Children: ReelQuick isn’t intended for children under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect personal data from them.

Changes to this policy: We’ll post updates here and change the “Last updated” date. If changes are material, we’ll provide a more prominent notice in-app or on our site.

2) Scope of this policy

This policy covers personal data processed when you:

  • use the ReelQuick iOS app; and/or
  • visit our website or contact our support.

Third-party sites we link to have their own privacy practices. Please review their policies.

3) What data we (and your device) process

A. Data that stays on your device (not collected by us)

  • Photos & Videos (content and metadata): Accessed via Apple’s Photos/PhotoKit APIs solely to display, classify, and help you take action (keep/delete).
  • On-device AI/ML signals: Classifier outputs, swipe decisions, and the local list of “kept” items used to avoid re-surfacing the same photo.
  • Local settings & preferences: For example, whether you enabled reminders, haptics, or onboarding status.
  • Local notifications: If you opt in, we schedule reminders locally; no push token is created or sent to us.

We do not upload, transmit, or store your photos/videos or their thumbnails on our servers.

B. Data we may receive (limited)

  • Support correspondence: If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message or attachments.
  • Diagnostic data (optional): If you opt to share analytics/crash reports with developers in iOS (Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Analytics & Improvements), Apple may provide us with aggregated or de-identified logs to help us fix crashes and performance issues. We do not receive your media or precise location through these reports.

C. Website cookies (if you visit our site)

  • We may use strictly necessary and basic performance cookies to operate the site and understand aggregate usage. We don’t use advertising cookies. You can control cookies via your browser settings.

4) Permissions the app requests

  • Photos access: To show and manage your camera roll.
  • Notifications (optional): For local, on-device reminders to tidy your roll.
  • Haptics/Motion (optional): To enable “shake to undo” and similar UI niceties.
  • Network access: Used for essential functions like checking for app updates or loading help pages—not to upload your media.

You can change permissions anytime in Settings ▸ Privacy & Security on iOS.

  • Provide the app and features (e.g., classify photos on-device, show swipe UI, remember kept items): performance of a contract / legitimate interests.
  • Customer support & safety (e.g., respond to emails, detect abuse, maintain service integrity): legitimate interests / legal obligations.
  • Improve stability & quality (e.g., crash diagnostics, aggregate performance metrics from Apple’s opt-in analytics): legitimate interests.
  • Legal compliance (e.g., responding to lawful requests): legal obligations.

We do not use your data for targeted advertising and we do not sell or “share” data as defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA).

6) What we don’t collect

  • Precise location
  • Contacts, calendars, messages, or health data
  • Biometric identifiers
  • Advertising identifiers for cross-app tracking

7) Data disclosure (when and to whom)

We only disclose personal data when necessary:

  • Service providers (if used): Limited to tasks like website hosting, email delivery, or error monitoring. They act under contract, can’t use data for their own purposes, and must protect it.
  • Legal compliance & safety: To comply with law, enforce terms, or protect rights, property, or safety.
  • Business transfers: If we undergo a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, personal data may transfer under the same protections and purposes stated here.

We do not disclose your photos/videos to third parties, as they are not uploaded to us.

8) International data transfers

If we use service providers outside your country, we implement appropriate safeguards (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses for EEA/UK). Contact us for details.

9) Security

We apply organizational and technical measures aligned with platform best practices:

  • On-device processing of media; no raw media uploads to our servers
  • Least-privilege access controls for any systems we operate
  • Encryption in transit for any support communications and website traffic (HTTPS)
  • Review of dependencies and platform updates

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. If we learn of a data incident involving your personal data, we will notify you and applicable authorities as required by law.

10) Retention

  • On-device data (including your “kept” list, preferences, and any app cache): Stays on your device until you delete the app or data.
  • Support emails: Kept for as long as needed to resolve your request and meet legal obligations, then deleted or archived securely.
  • Diagnostics: Retained per Apple’s analytics retention or our internal troubleshooting needs, then deleted or de-identified.

When we no longer need personal data, we delete or anonymize it.

11) Your rights

If you live in the EEA/UK (GDPR/UK GDPR)

You may have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, object to processing, and data portability. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw consent at any time. To exercise rights, contact us by email. We may ask for information to verify your identity and will respond within the timeframe required by law.

If you live in California (CPRA)

You have the right to know (categories and specific pieces of personal information we collected), delete, correct, and to opt-out of sale or sharing (we do not sell or share), plus the right to limit the use of sensitive personal information (we don’t use SPI for additional purposes). You have the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights.

To make a request, email support@reelquick.app. We will verify your request as required by law. You may use an authorized agent with appropriate authorization.

Nevada, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah residents

State laws may grant similar rights (access, delete, correct, opt-out of targeted advertising/sale/profiling). We do not sell personal data as defined under these laws and do not use data for targeted advertising. Contact us to exercise your rights.

12) Do Not Track & Global Privacy Control

Browsers may send “Do Not Track” or GPC signals. While there is no consistent industry standard, we don’t use data for targeted advertising, and we honor applicable opt-out rights provided by law.

13) App Store Privacy “Nutrition Labels”

Apple requires developers to self-report data collection. Based on how ReelQuick is designed today:

  • Data Not Collected: We do not collect data linked to you from your device’s photo library, nor do we collect identifiers for tracking.
  • Data Not Used for Tracking: We do not track you across apps or websites.
  • Diagnostics (Not Linked to You): If you enable Apple’s “Share with App Developers,” we may receive de-identified crash/performance data.

If features change in future updates (for example, if you opt into cloud backup), our labels and this policy will be updated before release.

14) Managing your data & choices

  • Photos: Allow/deny photo access in Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Photos.
  • Notifications: Enable/disable in Settings ▸ Notifications.
  • Reset on-device state: Delete the app (this removes the app’s local database, settings, and caches).
  • Support data: Email us to request deletion of your past support threads (subject to legal retention requirements).
  • Analytics: Change Apple analytics sharing in Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Analytics & Improvements.

15) Additional disclosures for transparency

Categories we may process (CPRA/GDPR mapping)

  • Identifiers: Email address (support only).
  • Internet/activity data: Basic, aggregate website interactions; crash/diagnostic data if you opt in via Apple.
  • Inferred data: None for advertising; on-device inferences for photo triage are not uploaded to us.
  • Sensitive data: None collected by us.

Sources:

  • You (emails to support).
  • Your device/Apple (diagnostics if you opt in).
  • Website interactions (cookies you can control).

Purposes:

  • Operate and support the app, fix crashes, secure services, fulfill legal duties, and answer support requests.

Sharing/Sale:

  • We do not sell data.
  • We do not “share” data for cross-context behavioral advertising.

16) Third-party services you may interact with

If you open external links (e.g., help pages) via Safari View Controller or your browser, those sites may collect data under their own policies. ReelQuick does not control third-party practices.

17) Contact

Questions or requests? Email: support@reelquick.app

If you’re in the EEA/UK and believe we haven’t resolved your issue, you can contact your local data protection authority (e.g., the ICO in the UK). We’re happy to help first.

Final notes

This policy is designed to be clear and comprehensive. If you need a signed Data Processing Addendum (DPA) or have enterprise requirements, contact us and we’ll work with you.

When you add Social Media Service accounts to the Services or sign into the Services using your Social Media Services account, we will collect relevant information necessary to enable our Services to access that Social Media Service, but you will provide your login information, like your password, directly to such Social Media Service (and not to us). In addition, we may provide certain information about you or your activities on the Services, or that you have otherwise provided to us, to such Social Media Services as part of such integration (including information that may be used by such Social Media Services to personalize ads for you).

However, please remember that the manner in which Social Media Services use, store and disclose your information is governed by the policies of such third parties, and we shall have no liability or responsibility for the privacy practices or other actions of any Social Media Services that may be enabled within the Service.

4. Location Information

Third-party services may also determine location by using other data from your device, such as precise location information from GPS, information about wireless networks or cell towers near your mobile device, or your IP address. We may use your location to provide features of our Services, such as sharing a post with your location, and to improve and customize the Services.

5. Log Data

When you use our Services, we may receive information (“Log Data”) such as your IP address, browser type, operating system, the referring web page, pages visited, location, your mobile carrier, device information (including device and application IDs), search terms, and cookie information. These third-party service providers may collect information sent by your device. Third-party partners may share information with us, like posts clicked, to help us measure and tailor our Services.

7. Security

We are very concerned about the security of your Personal Information. We employ administrative, physical and electronic measures designed to protect your information from unauthorized access. However, no Internet or email transmission is ever fully secure or error free. We will make any legally-required disclosures of any breach of the security, confidentiality, or integrity of your unencrypted electronically stored Personal Information to you via email or conspicuous posting on this Site in the most expedient time possible and without unreasonable delay, consistent with (i) the legitimate needs of law enforcement or (ii) any measures necessary to determine the scope of the breach and restore the reasonable integrity of the data system.

8. User Content

When using our Service, you may create or post content, as well as other information and data not prohibited by these Terms (“User Content”), on or through the Site or the Service, or transmit it to or share it with other users (e.g., via Facebook or email). You are solely responsible for all of your User Content, and represent and warrant that by submitting your User Content you will not be infringing on any other person’s copyright, trademark, trade secret or other proprietary or intellectual property rights, including privacy and publicity rights. You further agree not to post, transmit, or share any content on the Site or Service that would infringe or violate the rights of third-parties. In addition, you understand and agree that Filtr may, but is not obligated to, review the Site and your User Content, including pre-screening, and may delete or remove (without notice) any User Content for any reason, including, without limitation, if Filtr believes, in its sole discretion, it violates these Terms of Use, might be offensive or illegal, or could violate the rights, harm, or threaten the safety of users or others. You are solely responsible, at your own cost and expense, for creating backup copies and replacing any User Content you post or store on the Site or provide to Filtr. You acknowledge that Filtr has no control over whether or not the User Content will be altered, deleted, or removed from any third party websites where the User Content originated from or has been syndicated.

You shall retain all ownership rights in and to your User Content. Notwithstanding the foregoing, when you post User Content to the Site, you authorize and direct us to make such copies thereof as we deem necessary in order to facilitate the posting and storage of the User Content on the Site. By posting User Content to any part of the Site, you automatically grant, and represent and warrant that you have the right to grant, to Filtr a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sub-licenseable, transferable, perpetual and non-revocable license to use, reproduce, distribute, prepare derivative works of, and display the User Content in connection with the Site and Service. If you are under the age of 13, please do not submit any Personal Information through the Services. We encourage parents and legal guardians to monitor their children’s Internet usage and to help enforce our Privacy Policy by instructing their children never to provide Personal Information via the Services without their permission.

11. Data Retention and Account Deletion

All Facebook user data (e.g. user likes, timeline posts and photos) is processed on their personal iOS device and not stored elsewhere. This data is analyzed on the device to help you identify posts that are interesting and worth re-sharing and also ones that may no longer be relevant. When you authenticate with our app, you may optionally share your email address. Please email us at filtrapp.io@gmail.com to request the deletion of your account and all personal data (e.g., your email address, if provided).

12. Changes to this Policy

This Policy may be updated from time to time for any reason. You are advised to consult this Policy regularly for any changes.
